Kenyan digital content creator Erastus Otieno, widely known as Flaqo Raz, has responded to the backlash surrounding his viral forex skit, clarifying that his intention was purely for comedy and not to target or offend anyone. Speaking in a recent interview, the comedian admitted that he was surprised by the negative reaction from a section of the forex trading community.
Flaqo explained that the inspiration for the skit came from a popular online meme and was not directed at any specific individual. He confessed that he was shocked by the coincidence between a character he innocently created and real traders, a connection that was highlighted in the comment section of his video.
โI did not mean to target anybody; I cannot do that to anybody,โ he stated, adding that his comedy is always created with the intention of making fun of a situation, not to cause conflict.
The skit, which featured a character satirizing the get-rich-quick schemes often associated with forex trading, drew criticism from traders like Sammyboy and Kenyan Prince, who felt it misrepresented their profession. Flaqo, however, said he was in disbelief over the intense backlash, admitting that he had not anticipated the skit would cause such trouble. He expressed regret over the negative impact and was unsure whether he should apologize, emphasizing that the content was created solely for humor with no malicious intent.
Flaqoโs remarks shed light on the challenges content creators face when their work is interpreted differently from their original purpose. His explanation seeks to bridge the gap between his comedic intent and the offense taken by a community, highlighting the delicate balance between satire and public perception.
