The former Tusker FC defender has urged Harambee Stars to stay grounded and avoid complacency as they prepare for their decisive CHAN 2024 group stage clash against Zambia.

Newly unveiled Gor Mahia defender Michael Kibwage has detailed why Harambee Stars should not rest on their laurels ahead of their final group stage match against Zambia on Sunday, August 17.

Michael Kibwage has been one of the standout performers at the ongoing African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024), where Harambee Stars have yet to lose a match.

Harambee Stars started their campaign with a 1-0 victory over two-time champions DR Congo before drawing in their match against Angola. They then stunned the masses, securing a 1-0 victory over Morocco.

Now, they are gearing up for their final group stage encounter against the Chipolopolo, who are yet to win a match so far in their CHAN 2024 campaign.

Zambia started their campaign with a 2-0 loss to DR Congo. They then lost 2-1 in their match against Angola before falling 3-1 to Morocco.

The former Tusker FC defender revealed that the mood in the camp was good, especially after being given a much-needed break.

He explained that they had been rewarded well and had shared that with their loved ones, noting that at the moment, their main focus is on finishing the group stage campaign strongly. He added that everyone was ready and would give their best since the training had gone well.

“Playing against Zambia will be very difficult because I’m sure they would not want to exit the championship without a win, so it will still be a difficult match, but all our matches so far have been tough,” Michael Kibwage revealed in an interview with Habari 254TV.

“I feel like they will come into the match with a fighting spirit to beat the hosts and make history. We take this game very seriously, and after examining what it takes, we want to win.

“Beating DR Congo and Morocco has been a great motivation because they were the two lethal teams. We are just taking a game at a time, and I also want to appreciate the fans for staying positive and pushing us to make a mark.”
