Charlene Ruto has elicited mixed views on social media after a video of her dancing surfaced.

The first daughter joined other youths on Monday, 12th August, to celebrate International Youth Day, a global observance dedicated to celebrating the role of young people in shaping a better future.
This yearโs theme, Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond, highlighted the impact of grassroots initiatives and reinforced the message that real transformation begins within local communities.
Away from the discussions on climate action, innovation, social justice, and education, Charlene took some time to have fun.

A video posted on social media shows the Smachs Foundation founder on stage as a song by Awilo Longoma plays.
Surrounded by young people, Charlene, dressed in a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers, put her best foot forward.
Charlene was at the front, rhythmically moving to the song before pulling a showstopper move that had the audience screaming with joy.
She then fell back, and the dance troupe took over.

In other news, at the 2025 Devolution Conference in Homa Bay, President William Ruto and his daughter Charlene drew attention after footage of their interaction surfaced online.
The video showed the president warmly shaking her hand before she confidently presented her Smachs Foundation, a youth-led initiative addressing climate change and food insecurity.
Charlene showcased jars of honey, a beehive model, and explained how her team partners with traditional beekeepers to modernise hives while engaging young people in agriculture.
She highlighted their milestone of planting over 754,000 trees in support of the national 50 billion tree campaign.
Dressed in a white t-shirt, black jeans, and an African-inspired headwrap, she explained how her upbringing on the family farm influenced her work.
