“The Joint PG resolves to actively participate in constructive deliberations to ensure national unity, socio-economic development, rule of law, peace and security for all Kenyans,” the statement further read.
The resolutions also directed both parties to focus on legislative and policy issues tied to the 10-point agenda.
The Joint Parliamentary Group, working through both the National Assembly and the Senate, will give priority to policy, legislative, and administrative proposals put forward by the Committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of the NADCO Report and the 10-point agenda, which was described as addressing issues that go beyond partisan politics and are fundamental to Kenyaโs progress.
The MPs further resolved to hold a retreat later in the year aimed at fostering unity and improving efficiency in executing their shared objectives as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding.
The Parliamentary Group meeting, co-chaired by President Ruto and Raila, took place at the KCB Leadership Centre in Karen. While a wide range of legislators attended, notable absentees included ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
Those present included Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungโwah, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed, Senate Minority Leader Stewart Madzayo, and UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar.
Other leaders in attendance were Nominated MP Sabina Chege, Mandera Senator Ali Roba, Tigania East MP Mpuri Aburi, Migori Senator Eddy Oketh, Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwangโ, and South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro.
