The 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) trophy arrived in Kenya on Monday ahead of the finals, which will be held at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.
The trophy is in the country for the first since the inception of the continental tournament.
As part of the build-up to the tournament and its concluding match, the trophy will be featured in a tour of various media outlets.
The CAF TotalEnergies CHAN trophy first stop was at the KBC studios and was led by Kenyan football legend Victor Wanyama.
Combining silver and gold components, the new TotalEnergies CHAN 2024 trophy has a sleek, modern form that reflects the tournament’s increasing prominence and reputation.
The 54 different lines surrounding the trophy, representing the 54 African nations united with a map of the continent at its centre.
Besides the coveted trophy, winners of this year’s CHAN will be rewarded Sh455 million, while the runners-up will walk away with Sh156 million and Sh91 million for the bronze medalist.
The fourth-placed team will be rewarded Sh78 million, as each quarter-finalist among them, the three hosts – Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania – bags Sh58 million each.
The trophy is being shown on state broadcasts in all three host nations as part of its legacy.
