Residents of Sagegi in Suna East, Migori County, have raised concerns over a three-month power outage that has affected them socially and economically.

The residents say they have reached out to the Kenya Power office, but the state utility has never responded.

One local, Ben Abok, said the power outage has affected business activities in the region. He said many power-dependent businesses have been closed for the past three months.

Abok said additionally, the community is not able to get clean water from a borehole because the machines are not able to pump water due to the prolonged outage.

Similarly, the residents complain that insecurity cases have been on the rise because of the blackout.

They have appealed to Kenya Power to replace the transformer that was repossessed by the company after it developed mechanical problems.
