Kenyan content creator and musician Flaqo Raz has shared his views on the public display of wealth, arguing that those who are genuinely rich rarely feel the need to show it off.
In an interview on the Mic Cheque Podcast, Flaqo stated that true wealth is often quiet and unbothered, unlike the loud displays common among people who have recently come into money. He observed that many individuals with immense fortunes live modest lives without seeking validation through their possessions.
Flaqo believes that a person who is truly wealthy is secure and comfortable with their fortune.
“You do not have to shout, ‘I have money; I drive this; I drive that; I own a GLE,’” he explained.
He gave the example of a humble hardware shop owner who might have millions in the bank but doesn’t feel the need to announce their success with expensive purchases.
In contrast, Flaqo noted that others feel pressured to parade luxury cars and designer clothes to prove their superiority. For him, real wealth is a mindset that values stability and freedom over a constant parade of possessions.
Flaqo revealed that while he could easily afford a high-end vehicle like a Mercedes GLE, he chooses not to, as he sees no value in buying it merely for status.
“If I wanted a GLE, I could get it in two weeks, but I will not, because I do not feel I need it,” he said.
These comments follow Flaqo’s recent viral forex trading skit, which sparked both praise and criticism from the trading community. He later clarified that the skit was a work of comedy and was not meant to attack or misrepresent the industry.
