Former Public Service CS Justin Muturi has dismissed the possibility of holding reconciliation talks with President William Ruto.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the National Independent Church of Africa, St-Peter Kaunjira, Muturi said his focus is on holding the Head of State accountable.

The former CS said he cannot reconcile with Ruto because of what he described as the President’s failure to confront serious human rights violations.

“When I see things going wrong, I have to speak up. I have seen my friend here saying he might find me talking to him. It’s not possible. My job is to make sure he goes home,” Muturi said.

He cited abductions and extrajudicial killings as the key point of departure between them, accusing the President of failing to address the grave issue.

“The moment he failed to address the grave issue of abductions and extrajudicial killings, that was the point of departure between us,” he said.

Muturi, who previously served as Attorney General said he wants to be remembered as a leader who stood firmly for justice, regardless of political consequences.

“If there’s a thing I want the world and the country to know me for, it is as a leader who stood firmly for justice. When you know you stand for truth and justice for the people, you have nothing to fear,” he added.

The falloutwith President William Ruto followed the abduction of his son Lesley by a unit believed to be from the government. He would later on be released without being charged.

He was abducted during the heated Gen Z protests in the country.

Muturi would later demand action from the Cabinet to stop the abductions and extrajudicial killings and went to the extent of missing cabinet meetings.

He claimed to have written to the President over the same.

The former CS claimed to have sought the intervention of the president to have his son released after the abduction.

He further claimed to have overheard a call between the president and the National Intelligence DG, and after that, his son was released.

Since leaving government, Muturi is actively working with other opposition leaders, including former DP Rigathi Gachagua, former VP Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua and Eugene Wamalwa, among others.
