A woman from Kilifi county is reeling in pain as she tries to pick up the broken pieces of her life and start over.

Esther Kazungu is struggling to fend for herself and her young daughter, who is partly the reason she is currently suffering.

Kazungu was allegedly kicked out by her in-laws following the untimely and unfortunate death of her husband.

After his death, her in-laws allegedly chased her away because of her daughter, who has a disability.

Her husband had been the breadwinner, and after his death, life has been even more challenging for her and her little one.

She needs medicine for her ailing daughter, but the lack of employment has become a major barrier to accessing treatment.

Kazungu lives in a mud house with a grass-thatched roof, which makes the shelter uninhabitable when it rains.

She explained that she does not have many household possessions, but when it rains, her house floods, making it uncomfortable to live in.

Kazungu shared that sometimes kind well-wishers gift her food, but it is not often and not sustainable.
