American YouTuber J Rello is cutting his Kenyan trip short after facing massive backlash online and on the ground for disparaging remarks he made about women in Nairobi.
The Atlanta-based content creator went viral midweek after posting a video criticizing the capitalโs nightlife, claiming that โGod just didnโt bless Kenya with pretty womenโ and dismissing Nairobiโs social scene as โaverage and disappointing.โ
The comments ignited a fiery storm on social media, with Kenyans flooding his platforms to clap back. Many accused him of disrespect, โpoor taste,โ and projecting โsex tourism vibesโ in his commentary.
The backlash escalated so intensely that Rello admitted he was โbasically hiding in [his] BnBโ as the criticism mounted. He later announced that he had booked a flight out of Kenya, declaring:
โIโd rather get kicked to the curb by women in Atlanta than stay here.โ
Relloโs viral outburst has since sparked heated debates online about cultural sensitivity, respect for host countries, and the pitfalls of chasing clout through controversial takes.
