Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has confirmed that Harambee Stars has received a total of Ksh232 million in allowances and bonuses so far, reflecting the federationโs commitment to rewarding players and technical staff.
Hussein explained that most of the funds have gone to 27 players and the technical team, although a few members covered by the federation are still awaiting their payments.
โWhatever the team gets is the effort of the federation; the federation does everything in its power to make sure that we remunerate the team well,โ he said on Citizen TV.
โYouโve got the allowances of the players and the technical team, 27 players, although the government pays for 24, and we cater for the balance. I think there are about 4 or 5 players we still need to clear; the rest have been paid,โ he added.
Hussein also noted that Ksh21 million in allowances from the federation has already been disbursed, with additional bonuses provided by President William Ruto for every win and draw.
โAllowances were paid in July when in camp and August up to yesterday (August 23). If you look at the total amount so far, Sh21 million in allowances from us and the balance from bonuses, you are looking at Sh232 million that has been given to the national team,โ Hussein said.
He clarified that the remittances cover player and personnel allowances in recent training camps, along with performance incentives.
The FKF president reiterated that the government, together with the federation, are determined to ensure Harambee Starsโ players and technical bench are well paid, as a testament to a strong partnership towards adopting professionalism and performance in Kenyan football.
