Odhiambo admits the CHAN 2024 tournament has been a great boost to him as he has not only exposed his talents but also made over Ksh5 million, thanks to President William Rutoโs rewards, and now wants more by joining paid ranks abroad.
โYou cannot say that [Presidentโs bonus] is enough,โ the Gor Mahia playmaker told Pulse Sports.
โI am thinking about my next move, as a footballer, the most important thing is your next move not the money you make now because money ends. I am pushing hard to get a good deal and go out of Kenya.โ
Odhiambo has come close to leaving Gor Mahia in the last one year with a transfer to Belgium rumoured in 2024 but did not materialise while a number clubs in Africa have also been linked with him.
While he has missed out previously, the midfielderโs burning ambition has not waned, as he is keeping hopes alive that it will not be long before the right move happens.
โEverything happens for a reason and I always believe and trust in God and always pray and say whenever I want to go, I will go. So, if any move does not happen, I believe it was not meant for me,โ he added.
โSo long as I am doing the right thing now, the move will come, because I am sure a better place will come.โ
Odhiambo has been a vital player for Gor Mahia in the last three seasons, playing a large part in their FKF Premier League title wins in 2022-23 and 2023-24, thanks to his goals and assists, and KโOgalo will be hoping to keep hold of him as they eye a return to the summit of Kenyan football in 2025-26.
