Arsenal enjoyed a brilliant afternoon at the Emirates, thrashing Leeds 5-0 in a game full of excitement, debut goals, and a glimpse of the future.

Before kick-off, the Gunners unveiled new ยฃ60m signing Eberechi Eze, and the roar inside the stadium set the tone for what was to come. The crowdโ€™s energy carried into the match, and Mikel Artetaโ€™s side wasted no time showing their quality.

Jurrien Timber opened the scoring with a powerful header from a corner, then turned provider as Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenalโ€™s lead with a fierce strike just before half-time.

Sakaโ€™s joy was later cut short, though, as he limped off injured in the second halfโ€”a worrying sight for Arsenal fans.

The second half belonged to Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenalโ€™s ยฃ64m striker, who danced past defenders to score his first goal for the club. Timber then grabbed his second of the day, again from a corner, before the spotlight turned to Arsenalโ€™s 15-year-old wonderkid Max Dowman.

Dowman, making his Premier League debut, won a late penalty after a dazzling run, which Gyokeres converted to seal the 5-0 victory. At just 15 years and 234 days, Dowman became the second-youngest player ever to appear for Arsenal, only behind Ethan Nwaneri.

It was nearly the perfect afternoon for Artetaโ€”new signings impressing, Gyokeres off the mark, and a starlet emerging.

But the joy was dampened slightly by injuries to both Saka and captain Martin Odegaard, who also limped off on his 200th appearance for the club. With Kai Havertz already sidelined, Arsenal will be hoping history does not repeat itself after injuries derailed last seasonโ€™s title push.

Leeds, meanwhile, struggled to compete. Their only real chance came from Pascal Struijk, whose header was saved by David Raya.

New striker Noah Okafor, signed for ยฃ18m, made his debut, but Leeds never looked like troubling the hosts.

The defeat continues their poor record at the Emirates, where theyโ€™ve now lost 11 of their last 13 visits. Daniel Farkeโ€™s side will need to show much more resilience when they face Newcastle next.

For Arsenal, the afternoon ended with Timber named man of the match, Eze welcomed in style, and fans buzzing over the talent of young Dowman. If Arteta can keep his squad fit, the Gunnersโ€™ summer spending spreeโ€”over ยฃ250mโ€”could finally deliver the silverware their supporters crave.
