Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy has reportedly received a fresh approach from a Tanzanian club who are keen to lure him from Kenya.
Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy has emerged as a surprise candidate for a Tanzanian club who have reportedly approached him over the possibility of taking over.
McCarthy, who became Kenya national team coach in March, enhanced his reputation when he guided Harambee Stars to the quarter-final of the CHAN 2024 tournament which has made him a prime candidate for teams on the continent.
Now, reports in South Africa and Tanzania claim the 47-year-old is among candidates who have been sounded out for the vacant coaching position at Simba SC, who have lost their head coach Fadlu Davids to Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca.

Simba confirmed Davidsโ departure on Monday, ending days of speculation over the future of the South African coach, who joined the club in July 2024, and led them to second place in the league, just one point behind Yanga, as well as the final of the CAF Confederation Cup.
It leaves Simba searching for a new coach when their season has just started as they faced Botswana champions Gaborone United in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round on Saturday, winning 1-0, while they are set to open their league campaign against Singida Big Stars on Thursday.
According to Pan-African Football, Simba held talks with McCarthy to find out his possible availability but it is not certain whether he would be willing to abandon his Kenyan project for a fresh adventure in club football in Tanzania.
Reports in Tanzania, however, say former Yanga coach Miguel Gamondi is the leading candidate for the Simba job, having enjoyed success with the Dar es Salaam giants, before they parted ways last year.
