A joint sting operation by the police and the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has recovered rolls of bhang and arrested suspects at a notorious drug trafficking homestead in the outskirts of Kisii town.

At Jockvilla village, Nyamataro area, four suspects, 79 rolls of bhang, a motorcycle, and rolling materials suspected to be ferrying and packaging it were arrested and confiscated.

The key suspect apprehended in April this year, with a drug haul and was on bond, escaped the dragnet. He has been urged to surrender to the police immediately.

Kisii County Police Commander, Ronald Kirui, said they will involve experts to determine the value of the bhang in the black market even as they vowed to pray to the court for cancellation of the suspectโ€™s bond or enhance its terms.

NACADA Head of Enforcement, Nicholus Koech, urged members of the public to continue volunteering information which could lead to the eradication of cannabis in the country.

He vowed that similar operations will be conducted countrywide to rid the communities off the illicit substance.

Koech gave a NACADA toll-free telephone line , 1192, through which members of the public can pass information regarding the vice.
