Biovision Africa Trust (BvAT) is inviting applications from qualified and passionate individuals for the position of Project Manager – Transdisciplinary Learning Initiative (TDLI). The Transdisciplinary Learning Initiative (TDLI) is an innovative programme within Biovision Africa Trust designed to connect university students from various academic disciplines with agroecology and agrobiodiversity experts. By fostering collaboration between academic institutions, practitioners, and stakeholders, TDLI aims to strengthen knowledge exchange and co-creation of solutions to real-world challenges in agriculture and the environment.

Reporting directly to the Head of Farmer Communication Programme (FCP) & Support Functions, the Project Manager will lead the establishment of a fully functional TDLI Secretariat. The role will involve shaping strategic direction, coordinating multi-stakeholder activities, securing funding, and ensuring that TDLI becomes a sustainable and impactful initiative for years to come.

Biovision Africa Trust (BvAT) is a not-for-profit organization established in Kenya in 2009 by the Biovision Foundation for Ecological Development in Switzerland. The Trust operates under the umbrella of the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) in Nairobi.

BvAT’s vision is to sustainably improve the lives of people across Africa while safeguarding the environment. The organization works to alleviate poverty and strengthen livelihoods of smallholder farmers by disseminating information and knowledge on ecologically sound agricultural practices and technologies.

Through various programmes, BvAT champions ecological farming, biodiversity conservation, sustainable food systems, and farmer empowerment. The Transdisciplinary Learning Initiative (TDLI) is a key component of this work, bridging academia, practice, and innovation to address complex agricultural challenges.

The TDLI connects graduate students from diverse disciplines with agroecology experts, industry stakeholders, and policymakers. It emphasizes knowledge co-creation, which ensures that solutions are both practical and scientifically sound. The initiative helps academic institutions prepare students to design, communicate, and collaborate effectively in solving complex socio-technical challenges.

TDLI’s approach recognizes that no single sector or discipline can address challenges in food systems and ecological agriculture. By fostering collaboration, the initiative builds stronger agroecological networks regionally and internationally, positioning future leaders to address pressing environmental and agricultural issues.

The Project Manager will lead the Transdisciplinary Learning Initiative, establishing and managing its Secretariat. The successful candidate will design structures, operational functions, and linkages that enable the programme to thrive. They will also work to secure funding, develop curricula, build institutional partnerships, and ensure effective implementation of TDLI’s activities.
