A boda boda rider in Kisii is mourning the tragic death of his wife, Paulina, who passed away at a local guest house while in the company of another man.

According to police reports, Paulina, a mother of three, allegedly sneaked out of her marital home at 10 pm for a secret rendezvous. Her husband said he had returned home to find their children hungry and alone.

“I tried calling her, but her phone was off. I cooked for the children and waited for her return, but she never came back,” the grieving husband explained.

The following morning, he went to the police station to report her disappearance. It was then that he received the devastating news: an unidentified woman had been found dead at a guest house. When he went to the mortuary, he painfully confirmed it was his wife.

Police investigations revealed that Paulina had checked into the guest house with another man. After spending time together, the man allegedly left, claiming he was going to get food, but never returned. Paulina was later found lifeless in the room.

“We were married for 15 years. I never mistreated her, and I was planning to pay her dowry soon,” the heartbroken husband said.

He further revealed that their marriage had faced challenges due to his wife’s infidelity. “One day she told me she wanted a man with money, not a broke person like me. I begged her to be patient, but she refused.”

The incident has left the Kisii community in shock. Police say investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death are ongoing.

This tragic case comes just weeks after another similar incident where a woman died in a lodging under unclear circumstances, raising concerns about the increasing number of deaths reported in guest houses across Kenya. Read related stories on Sauce.co.ke.
