Police in Kiambu County have launched investigations after the body of a man was discovered floating on a river in a farm in Ruiru.

According to authorities, the man is suspected to have been murdered elsewhere before his body was dumped at the scene. By the time of discovery, the body was already decomposed and emitting a strong odor, which alerted residents in the area.

Officials from the Ruiru Fire Department retrieved the body and transferred it to the local mortuary for autopsy and further examination. Police confirmed that the motive behind the killing remains unknown as investigations continue.

Law enforcement officers are treating the case as a suspected murder. Speaking on the discovery, police noted that the body was found on August 21, 2024, and that a full postmortem would provide more details about the cause of death.

Cases of violent crime and suspicious deaths have been a growing concern in Kenya. According to reports by the National Police Service, homicide cases remain among the most pressing challenges faced by law enforcement.
