The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, is set to hold a high-stakes press conference in Nairobi this Saturday, August 30, 2025.

The event comes just hours before the final match of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024, hosted by Kenya.

Dr. Motsepe will address the media at the Kempinski Hotel following a critical meeting of the CAF Executive Committee (EXCO), where key decisions concerning the direction and development of African football are expected to be finalized.

The EXCO meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM local time.

The press conference is a significant event for Kenya, which is co-hosting the CHAN tournament with Tanzania and Uganda.

The CAF President’s visit underscores the organization’s focus on East African football, especially with Kenya also set to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

While the specific agenda of the EXCO meeting remains under wraps, football analysts anticipate discussions on a range of topics.

These could include the tournament’s overall success, assessments of stadium readiness for future events like AFCON 2027, and potential new strategies for continental football growth.

The press conference highlights Nairobi’s growing importance as a hub for major continental sporting events.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 12:30 PM East Africa Time.
