The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will hold a high-level Executive Committee (EXCO) meeting in Nairobi this Saturday, August 30, just hours before the final of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe will preside over the meeting at the Kempinski Hotel starting at 10:00 AM local time, after which he is expected to address the media in a press conference scheduled for 12:30 PM.

The session is expected to finalize key decisions on the future of African football, though the official agenda remains undisclosed. Analysts anticipate deliberations on the success of the ongoing CHAN tournament, Kenyaโ€™s stadium preparedness ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), and long-term strategies to accelerate the growth of football across the continent.

The visit is a significant boost for Kenya, which is co-hosting the CHAN tournament alongside Tanzania and Uganda. It also reinforces Nairobiโ€™s growing profile as a center for continental sporting events, coming just two years before the region stages Africaโ€™s premier competition, AFCON 2027.

Dr. Motsepeโ€™s address is expected to set the tone for CAFโ€™s next phase of football development initiatives in East Africa and beyond.
