Caroline Mutoko has given her fans a rare and heartfelt look into her private life, opening up about the emotional rollercoaster of motherhood.

The veteran broadcaster recently shared a touching story about the moment she put her daughter, Nduku, on a flight as an unaccompanied minor โ€” an experience that left her reflecting on the true weight of parenting.

In a TikTok video that has since gone viral, Mutoko explained how parenthood changes oneโ€™s outlook entirely.

โ€œNobody tells you that when you become a parent, your heart will leave your body and roam the streets of Nairobi, Berlin, New York โ€” wherever your children are,โ€ she said, capturing the unending love and worry parents carry for their children.

She recalled how the airline staff paused to ask if she needed an extra moment with her daughter before she was escorted away. Mutoko took the chance to give Nduku a blessing and words of advice.

โ€œI usually either hold her face or place my hand on her head. I told her, โ€˜Remember to stay alert, watch your surroundings, have fun, remember to pray. I love you and I miss you.โ€™โ€

To her amusement, Nduku impatiently looked back as though to say, โ€œCan I go now?โ€ eager to embark on her adventure.

Mutoko used the story to reflect on how parenthood evolves over the years. When children are young, she explained, they respond enthusiastically to words of love and affection. But as they grow older, those responses tend to be more restrained.

โ€œIf you are a young mother, enjoy the interactions you are having with your child now. If your child is under eight or nine, they will respond with excitement when you say โ€˜I love you.โ€™ Over time, that changes,โ€ she advised.

This revelation is particularly striking given Mutokoโ€™s well-known stance on privacy. In a 2021 YouTube video, she emphasized why she keeps her family out of the public eye.

โ€œFor some people, itโ€™s a non-negotiable. I am one of those people. My home is off limits. My circle of friends live and work in spaces where privacy is essential, and sometimes even with each other, we prefer plausible deniability,โ€ she explained.

Her consistency on the matter means that only a handful of photos of her loved ones exist online.
