Ryan Ogam’s 75th-minute goal with an assist from substitute Boniface Muchiri was enough to secure Harambee Stars a 1-0 victory over Zambia ,to ensure Kenya claimed a top spot in Group A at the ongoing African Nations Championship.
The tough contest was played on Sunday evening at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
It was also Ogam’s 2nd goal in the tournament, which puts him in the race for the golden boot award.
Kenya topped the group on 10 points with 3 wins and a draw to book a date with the 2022 bronze medallist Madagascar, who finished 2nd in Group B, this Friday, 22nd August, at the Kasarani Stadium in the 1st last 8 match.
In another 3pm simultaneous match staged at Nyayo Stadium, Morocco eased past fellow two-time winners DRC after hammering them 3-1 to claim 2nd position with 9 points.
The Atlas Lions will travel to Dar es Salaam, where they are set to face Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in the 8pm quarter-final clash at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
