Nairobi City County has announced the establishment of a free Fan Zone at the National Archives to give football lovers an open, safe, and vibrant space to watch CHAN 2024 matches.
The initiative, spearheaded by City Hall in collaboration with local partners, is aimed at boosting fan engagement during the African Nations Championship while promoting a festive atmosphere in the heart of the city. The Fan Zone will feature large high-definition screens, comfortable seating, and live entertainment from local artists before and after matches.
County officials say the move is also meant to support local vendors, who will be given opportunities to sell food, drinks, and merchandise during the games. Security has been stepped up around the venue to ensure a family-friendly environment, with county enforcement officers and police on site throughout the tournament.
Speaking during the launch, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja said the fan park was part of efforts to make the tournament accessible to all, especially those unable to travel to the stadiums.โFootball is about unity, passion, and community. This Fan Zone will allow Nairobians to come together and celebrate CHAN 2024 right in the heart of the city,โ he said.
The Fan Zone will remain open for the entire duration of the tournament, screening all CHAN 2024 matches free of charge.
