A police officer was seriously injured in a hit and run accident along Uhuru Highway, Nairobi.
The accident happened at the junction of Parliament Road and Uhuru Highway, police said.
The police officer attached to Parliament police station was crossing the road on Friday morning when a speeding salon car hit him.
The car was racing from Westlands direction when it knocked down the sergeant of police leaving him with serious head injuries and a fracture on the right leg. He was rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital and admitted there in serious condition.
Police said they were pursuing the driver of the car that sped off from the scene.
Elsewhere at the Makutano police station, Tharaka Nithi County, a police officer was injured in an attack by a suspect who was in custody.
The officer said he was escorting the suspect to a pit latrine outside the cells when he turned against him and hit him using a metal rod.
The cop managed to chase and rearrest the suspect, police said. But the suspect turned on him, biting him on the left index finger, shoulder and ribs forcing the officer to let him free.
The suspect had been arrested for stealing and assault and is on the run, police said on Sunday.
The injured officer was taken to hospital where he was admitted in stable condition, police said.
And in Chinga, Nyeri County, a man was burnt by a hot porridge in an attack after a disagreement with a woman.
The man had visited his girlfriend at her house when the incident happened in Mumbuini village, police said.
It was then the man and the woman disagreed and started to quarrel before the woman picked up boiling porridge that he poured on the victim leaving him with burns on the face, neck and hands.
He was rushed to hospital and admitted in serious condition, police said.
Police said the search for the accused person is ongoing.
