According to the Global Peace Index 2025, five countries recorded the largest declines in peacefulness between 2024 and 2025.

Ukraine topped the list with a peace score increase of +0.142, followed by Israel (+0.128), Haiti (+0.115), Myanmar (+0.102), and Ecuador (+0.098).

This highlights that a higher score indicates reduced peacefulness, with the index ranging from 1 (most peaceful) to 5 (least peaceful).

The annual study ranks 163 countries using indicators such as societal safety, ongoing conflict, and militarisation.

These shifts reflect growing instability in the affected regions over the past year.
