Crab mentality

Crab mentality, also known as crab theory or crabs in a bucket, is a metaphor for a kind of negative group behavior where individuals try to pull down anyone who is succeeding, rather than helping or celebrating their success. Itโ€™s named after the behavior of crabs in a bucket: when one crab tries to escape, the others pull it back down, ensuring that none of them get out.
