The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested TikToker Shedrack Omondi Okindo, also known as Hon Mosquito, for alleged incitement through a TikTok video.
According to the DCI, the clip, which contained threats of violence and incitement against public order, quickly went viral, triggering public concern and swift action from security agencies.
“Detectives have arrested Shedrack Omondi Okindo, alias Hon Mosquito, in connection with a seditious video that was widely circulated on TikTok on August 1, 2025,” the DCI said on X.
Okindo was arrested in his hideout in the Miritini area of Mombasa County after detectives trailed him following forensic leads.
Upon further search of his residence, detectives recovered two pairs of tactical combat fatigues, a notebook with the writings, “We are going to apply guerrilla resistance tactics – Justice to all freedom heroes,” three mobile phones, assorted documents linked to the Justice Direction Party, among other items.
Okindo is currently in custody awaiting his court appearance.
In the viral video, the suspect warns the president to release his comrades, Patrick Osoi and Cop Shakur, or else former officers would retaliate.
“I warn you, Ruto, and I want you to listen to me very clearly. I have been warning you, but you have been taking it as a joke, and this is the last warning. Release Patrick Nyambaka Osoi. Release Cop Shakur. Don’t tamper with the cops. There are so many comrades outside here that you don’t know.”
He said that they (the former officers) were not similar to the Gen Z protestors and that their ways were different from the government’s way. “I have said this, that we are not Gen Zs of threatening shoot to kill. We are not civilians; our ways are different from your way.”
“Release Osoi, release Cop Shakur, set my boys free, and if you don’t do so, we are coming for you, I am coming for you,” said Okindo.
His arrest comes barely a week after former navy officer Patrick Osoi was arrested for forming a movement with two other former officers to fight police brutality.
He was charged with preparing to commit a felony, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without a certificate, and other terrorism-related charges.
