Nairobi, Kenya โ August 16, 2025 โ The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is facing mounting pressure to arrest an cab driver accused of attempting to take advantage of a heavily intoxicated woman.
The late-night incident has sparked public outrage after a video of the confrontation went viral on social media.
According to witnesses, the driver was confronted by a group of young men who noticed his suspicious behavior. In the video, bystanders can be heard accusing him of trying to exploit the vulnerable woman instead of ensuring she reached home safely.
The visibly drunk lady appeared disoriented as the concerned group intervened, sparking a heated exchange with the driver.
Outraged Kenyans flooded X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook, tagging both the DCI Kenya and the National Police Service (NPS), demanding swift action against the driver.
Some users described the incident as a โgross abuse of trustโ by a person meant to provide safe transport. Others called for ride-hailing companies like Uber Kenya to review their vetting and safety policies to prevent similar cases.
Activists have urged authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and press charges if evidence confirms misconduct.
