Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eliud Lagat, on Saturday visited Mandera County to assess security situation in the region.
Lagat who was accompanied by senior police officials from Nairobi held a meeting with all senior security officials in the county, assuring residents that the overall security remains stable, with no significant incidents reported in recent weeks.
He noted that clan clashes have significantly subsided, with no new cases recorded recently.
The DIG urged communities in volatile areas to maintain peace and respect the rule of law, stressing that every Kenyan has the right to live peacefully regardless of location.
Lagat further reassured residents that individuals disrupting peace will be pursued and brought to justice.
This was the Deputy Inspector Generalโs first visit to Mandera County, part of his familiarisation tour of the region
