Police officers in Nakuru North Sub-County rescued a Pakistani national, Ahmad Shabbir, from an angry mob who accused him of duping locals of their cash on false promises.
The drama played out when locals surrounded Shabbir in Nakuru and called for justice. The crowd reportedly threatened to lynch him before he was saved by law enforcement officers. The police move came in time to save his life, but his two suspected co-conspirators managed to escape.
Investigations revealed that Shabbir and his accomplices had also been running similar fraud business in the area, where several victims had lost cash.
The police also revealed that Shabbir had outstanding fraud cases at Ahero Police Station, where he was released on bail.
โHe had been ordered to report back to the station on August 20, 2025, but instead continued with his fraudulent activities,โ the DCI reported yesterday.
Shabbir was taken into police custody for questioning and processing. The authorities are now pursuing his two accomplices, who are at large.
The police urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspected scammers rather than taking the law into their own hands.
