Former Cabinet Minister and Marakwet East MP Linah Jebii Kilimo has urged parents to prioritise their children’s education, saying it is the key to a brighter future for both families and the nation.

Speaking during a retirement farewell party for long-serving teacher Samuel Tanui at Chemworor Primary School in Sambirir, Marakwet East, on Saturday, Kilimo said that good education to children enable them overcome challenges that come later in life.

“As parents we should do all in our capacity to give our children good education to enable them overcome challenges that they might encounter in their journey through life,” she added.

Highlighting the importance of investing in education, the former MP noted that children are the country’s future leaders and deserve care, support, and opportunities to reach their full potential.

The former lawmaker also lauded teachers for their vital role in shaping the behavior and future of children adding that teachers are the backbone of the country’s development agenda.

“What I know is that teachers are considered the most noble and responsible members of any society. Their contribution to our nation is invaluable,” she said.

She emphasised that teachers not only impart knowledge but also inspire and mentor students to achieve social, professional, and personal success.

According to her, their influence as organisers, guides, and role models is crucial in nurturing responsible citizens.
