Ex-Political Parties Tribunal Chair Kyalo Mbobu Shot Dead In Nairobi

Former Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) chairperson Kyalo Mbobu was on Tuesday evening, September 9 shot dead along Magadi Road in Nairobi.

Viral Tea was first alerted by sources privy to the matter that the brazen drive-by attack happened at the Galleria-Brookhouse School section at around 7 pm, with graphic images seen by this writer which we cannot publish, showing the renowned legal mind seated on the driver’s seat, motionless.

Mbobu, who was not immediately identified prior to credible media reports, was said to be driving home when he encountered a traffic jam.

It was here that unknown gunmen riding on a motorcycle pulled up to his car, shattered his window and shot him at close range, at least three times on the chin. The suspects then rode off after the incident.

There was a massive traffic snarl-up at the time of the incident, but witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, causing panic along the busy stretch of the road.ย 

Preliminary findings suggest the attack was a targeted killing, with investigators considering angles such as professional rivalry, politics, or personal disputes.

Police collected several spent cartridges at the scene and moved the lawyerโ€™s car to Langโ€™ata Police Station for forensic analysis. The body was taken to the City Mortuary.

Mbobu, a prominent Nairobi advocate, had made a name in litigation and was said to be handling several high-profile cases.
