American sprinter Fred Kerley has left the athletics fraternity in shock after signing up for the controversial Enhanced Games.
Kerley, who is currently suspended over an anti-doping rule violation, which forced him out of the ongoing 2025 World Athletics Championships, faces a possible two-year ban over a whereabouts violation but it seems that is not a bother to him.
The 2022 world champion in 100m has opted to sign for the Enhanced Games, whose first edition will be held in 2026, becoming the first track athlete and first American male to sign up for the controversial event.

What makes it more interesting and unethical for professional athletes is that the games allows participants to use performance-enhancing drugs under medical supervision and Kerley, being a pro, who is suspended for an anti-violating rule violation, makes it worse.
However, Kerley is unshaken and has said he is looking forward to breaking the 100m world record at the Enhanced Games where $1 million is the prize money for achieving such a feat.
“I’m looking forward to this new chapter and competing at the Enhanced Games,” Kerley posted on X.
“The world record has always been the ultimate goal of my career. This now gives me the opportunity to dedicate all my energy to pushing my limits and becoming the fastest human to ever live,โ he further wrote, expressing his desire to go for the 9.58 world record set by Jamaican legend Usain Bolt in 2009.
The Enhanced Games have been slammed by World Athletics boss Sebastian Coe, who termed any athlete that features in them โmoronicโ while the World Anti-Doping Agency called it “a dangerous and irresponsible concept”.
Enhanced Games, a proposed Olympics-style event where doping is allowed, was founded by Australian businessman Aron D’Souza in 2023, and features athletics, swimming, weightlifting, gymnastics and combat sports.
