The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has paid teachers and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) sub-county directors who participated in the 2024 national examination their dues after months of anticipation.

A number of teachers and the TSC sub-county directors have confirmed receiving the dues for services rendered during the exercise.

This comes after the Education News yesterday highlighted the frustration of close to 360 TSC Sub County Directors across the country, who petitioned the KNEC over their unpaid exam dues.

They claimed that they are each owed approximately Ksh35,000, nearly a year after completing their duties in overseeing the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), Kenya Junior School Education Assessment ( KJSEA), and other examinations.

The officials are tasked with various responsibilities, including identifying and nominating teachers of integrity to serve as Centre Managers, Supervisors, and Invigilators and rotating invigilators weekly to prevent malpractice.

This will reduced the debt backlog to pave way for the 2025 national examinations which are expected to begin in October with KCSE starting from October 21 to November 21, 2025, while other assessments, such as the KJSEA and KPSEA, will take place between October 27and early November.
