Gor Mahia Star Siraj Mohammed: How Valuable CHAN 2024 Experience With Harambee Stars Will Help K’Ogalo Dominate

New Gor Mahia left back Siraj Mohammed has explained how the experience both he and his fellow Harambee Stars teammates at the club gained at CHAN 2024 will make them dominate Kenya.

New Gor Mahia star Siraj Mohammed has explained how the experience he gained for Harambee Stars at the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN) on home soil will enable him to meet both his and his new club’s objectives for the upcoming season.

Gor Mahia have a strong contingent of Harambee Stars players that represented the club during the tournament that are registered as players this season. Goalkeeper Byrne Omondi signed for the club, as did Mike Kibwage and  Felix Oluoch.

Players like Sylvester Owino, Alphonce Omija, Alpha Onyango and Austin Odhiambo were already Gor Mahia players at the tournament, which saw Kenya reach the quarter finals before being eliminated by Madagascar 4-3 on penalties.

Speaking to the club’s media channels following his official unveiling, Siraj, who spent a number of years at Bandari before choosing to abandon ship and join the record FKF Premier League champions, believes the move will only be beneficial for his career.

“It is a big move. I have worked very hard in all those years I have been at Bandari and these are just the rewards of hard work. I hope it helps me in my career,” Siraj said.

“I will work hard here because I know how big the club is, and my aims, and so I am sure I now have the mentality to handle the pressure that will come with it.I know it will not be easy.”

Siraj, who was impressive for Stars when they faced Morocco, and also converted his spot kick during the penalty shootout at Kasarani, believes the experience gained at that stage will only make both he and Gor Mahia FC stronger.

“I think the experience I have gained at CHAN, alongside my fellow teammates at the club who also represented Harambee Stars at the tournament will hopefully help us take this team to the very next level.”

He began his football journey at Mvita Boys Secondary School, where he showcased his potential and laid the foundation for his professional career.

Siraj’s professional ascent began with Bandari, a club he has played for since 2017 and won the 2018/19  FKF Shield Cup with. He gained a reputation as a player comfortable inverting into the midfield and creating overloads given his composure.
