Gor Mahia Target Back-to-Back Wins but Red-Hot KCB Stand in the Way

Gor Mahia players celeberate a goal.

Gor Mahia will be seeking a second straight league win on Sunday as they visit a KCB team that have started the season strongly.

Gor Mahia have their work cut out as they go in search of a second league win in a row against a strong KCB side at Dandora Stadium on Sunday.

Kโ€™Ogalo won their first game of the season when they beat Sofapaka 2-0 last weekend with new signing Ghanaian international Ebenezer Adukwaw scoring both goals and will hope to do the same against the bankers.

This came after their opening day defeat to Bidco United, a 1-0 reverse conceded in the last minute, but there is confidence within camp that a win against Robert Matanoโ€™s side is possible.

However, KCB have secured back-to-back victories and will be looking for a third in a row to move top of the table and besides having an experienced coach in Matano, they also have some of the most experienced players in their side.

โ€œThe mood at the camp has been good. The players are psyched up and excited to face Gor tomorrow [Sunday],โ€ said KCB midfielder Tyron Kariuki.

โ€œOf course, they are a big team, but we are no pushovers, so we are expecting a very exciting match. This week we have put in the work and trained diligently. I am confident we will get a positive result.โ€

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia midfielder Enock Morrison says the team have been working on their main Achilles heal and are now ready to go against the bankers.

โ€œI think we have been lacking in our finishing. If you look at our previous matches, we managed to dominate but our composure in front of goal was not there in the first match. In the second game, we created chances and two of them went in, which was a positive outcome,โ€ he added.

Both teams have an almost equal head-to-head record as KCB and Gor Mahia each have three wins in their last 11 meetings with five ending in draws.
