Hounsou, who is American but of Beninese origin, will play Max Elmi, a seasoned Kenyan wildlife ranger who risks everything to protect endangered animals, until tragedy strikes close to home.

His son, a talented young footballer with professional ambitions, disappears after falling victim to a fraudulent sports agent with links to the North African criminal underworld.

Meanwhile, Berry will play Amanda Bruckner, an FBI supervisor leading an elite international task force on a mission to dismantle global trafficking networks.

The narrative takes a dramatic turn when Max’s desperate search for his son intersects with Amanda’s high-stakes investigation. The two join forces with Dane Harris, a tenacious special agent who is part of Amanda’s team.

Red Card takes audiences on a journey across the African continent.

“We begin in the serene Kenyan villages where Max’s search starts, move through the bustling urban centres where trafficking syndicates thrive, and ultimately arrive in the vibrant chaos of Casablanca, Morocco, where the danger escalates,” say the producers.

The production team is also seeking an actor to play a key supporting role.

“The casting directors are currently seeking the perfect actor to play Dane Harris, a special agent who becomes Max’s main ally in the field. The role demands someone who can match the onscreen intensity of both Berry and Hounsou.”

Hounsou was nominated for two Oscars for his roles in Blood Diamond and In America.

The 61-year-old gained international recognition in 2006 when he starred alongside renowned Titanic actor Leonardo DiCaprio in Blood Diamond.

His other notable credits include Gladiator, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, A Quiet Place Part II and A Quiet Place. In Day One, he acts alongside Lupita Nyong’o, who is from Kenya.

Berry, aged 58, made history as the first and only black woman to win Best Actress at the Oscars.

Despite her success in Hollywood, she has spent years searching for projects that transcend Hollywood norms.
