Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has revealed that the Harambee Stars team received a total of Ksh253 million in allowances and bonuses in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.ย

Speaking on Sunday, August 24, Mohammed said FKF paid out Ksh21 million in allowances to the Harambee Stars team.

He explained that the government covers the allowances of 24 players, while the federation caters to the remaining three.

The FKF President also noted that the team received a total of Ksh232 million in bonuses from President William Ruto.

โ€œThose allowances that we have paid to the national team, plus other bonuses that could have been given, you are looking at about 21 million that has been paid to the players through allowances. Then there is the money that was given as bonuses by the President for every win and draw during the competition.

โ€œAllowances were paid in July when in camp and August up to yesterday. If you look at the total amount we have so far disbursed, Ksh21 million from us and the balance from the bonuses, you are looking at 232 million that has been given to the national team,โ€ Mohammed said.

This comes after the Harambee Stars team was knocked out of the CHAN 2024 tournament by Madagascar in the quarter finals.

Kenya hosted the team at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani Stadium, where the visitors had a breakthrough in penalty shootouts after a 1-1 draw through regular time and extra time.
