The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested three employees of the Kenya Power and Lighting Company over bribery allegations.
Mr. Jeremiah Onchuru Omwenga, Mr. Jeremiah Omondi Masiwa, and Mr. John Mutuku Mutua were the suspects arrested in separate operations for allegedly receiving bribes to provide services.
Mr. Omwenga, an accountant stationed at Electricity House, is accused of demanding a bribe of KSh200,000 to alter a disputed electricity bill of KSh346,000. Following a complaint, the Commission launched an operation that resulted in his arrest while receiving the money.
In Woodley estate, Nairobi, the commission arrested Mr. Masiwa and Mr. Mutua while collecting a bribe of KSh10,000 from a resident in exchange for irregular reconnection of the electricity supply.
The three suspects were taken into custody and registered at the Integrity Centre Police Station before being released on a KSh50,000 bond each, pending the conclusion of investigations.
The Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling bribery at service delivery points to restore public confidence and enhance service delivery to all Kenyans
