There is a Swahili proverb that says “Mgema akisifiwa tembo hulitia maji,” which means “When a wine maker is praised, he adds water to his wine” a saying that many are linking Toxic Lyrikali to.

To my understanding, this proverb simply warns that praise can lead to boastfulness or deceit, causing someone to become arrogant and lose their integrity or quality standards – again, something netizens are accusing Toxic Lyrikali of.

Well, after making headlines with backbencher, not forgetting Chinje which is currently at 10 million views and counting netizens are now claiming Toxic Lyrikali has lost touch with his music.

These claims were made online by fans who have been circulating videos on social media urging the singer to quit making love songs; as well as stop giving out collaborations.

On the videos, many expressed disappointment in his latest features alleging lack of originality and creativity, as most can’t relate to the kind of message conveyed his love songs.

But to be fair, change is inevitable meaning with new money – came a new whole world for Toxic Lyrikali forcing him to adjust to a happier world – hence his new lovey dovy music.

I mean, who wouldn’t want this for themselves? Not me!

However for the sake of his music career, Toxic Lyrikali might be forced to resume to his previous style of music where he basically talked about growth and ambition – which his audience seems to prefer more.
