Kenyaโs clean energy drive has received a major lift after electric mobility giant Spiro teamed up with clean fuel distributor KOKO Networks in a deal set to transform both transport and energy sectors.
The partnership will see over 3,000 KOKO delivery agents switch to Spiroโs electric motorbikes, significantly cutting distribution costs while accelerating Kenyaโs decarbonisation agenda.
KOKO, best known for distributing bio-ethanol cooking fuel to thousands of households in Kenya and Rwanda, says the move extends its sustainability strategy beyond kitchens and into transport โ creating a ripple effect in the fight against climate change.
Spiro, Africaโs leading e-mobility operator, already runs 35,000+ electric motorbikes across the continent and manages the largest battery-swapping network in Africa, with more than 20 million battery swaps completed. Its 800+ swap stations give riders and enterprises reliable, zero-emission transport at scale.
Industry watchers say the collaboration underscores Kenyaโs growing role as a hub for sustainable innovation, proving how bold cross-sector partnerships can accelerate climate resilience while opening up fresh economic opportunities.
This partnership tackles two everyday challenges at once โ high fuel costs and climate change. By rolling out thousands of affordable, zero-emission e-bikes for KOKOโs delivery network, the deal lowers distribution expenses, protects households from rising transport costs, and creates cleaner air in congested cities.
It also signals Kenyaโs growing leadership in green innovation, showing that sustainable solutions can create jobs, cut emissions, and make life cheaper for ordinary citizens.
