Netflix is a video-on-demand global streaming service that has gained popularity across the world. It allows subscribers to enjoy a wide range of video content, including TV shows, documentaries, animated series, and feature films. Subscription is monthly, and the company offers a range of plans to cater to the diverse needs of its customers.

Netflix users who opt to cancel their subscription can do so easily on their gadgets, and the process depends on how you originally signed up.

Whether you joined directly through Netflix, Google Play, Apple, or a mobile provider, you can cancel in just a few quick steps.

Hereโ€™s a step-by-step guide to help you end your subscription smoothly

First, open Netflix in your browser and sign in to your account.

If you signed up through Google Play, open the Play Store, go to Subscriptions, choose Netflix, and tap Cancel Subscription.

For Apple users, go to Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Select the app and choose Cancel Subscription.

ย If your subscription is billed through a third-party provider, such as a mobile carrier, youโ€™ll need to cancel directly with them.

Check your billing details on your account to know which provider is charging you.

After cancelling, you can still watch until the end of your billing period. A confirmation email will be sent once your subscription is officially closed.

An online controversy erupted, with users threatening to cancel their subscriptions.

This was due to concerns over the animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park, a childrenโ€™s show rated TV-Y7 featuring a transgender teenage protagonist.

The series, created by Hamish Steele, drew Muskโ€™s ire after posts on X criticised its LGBTQ+ themes as inappropriate for young audiences.

Additionally, Elon Musk highlighted a reported social media post by Steele mocking the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, allegedly calling him a โ€œNaziโ€ and criticising UK Prime Minister Keir Starmerโ€™s tribute to Kirk following his death in September 2025.

On September 30, Musk reposted a userโ€™s announcement of canceling their subscription, stating, โ€œSame,โ€ confirming he had also canceled his own.

Later that day, he shared a clip from Dead End: Paranormal Park and wrote, โ€œThis is not ok.โ€

ย โ€œCancel Netflix for the health of your kids,โ€ Musk shared.
