Huawei Cloud has reiterated its commitment to advancing Kenya’s digital transformation by hosting Huawei Cloud Techwave Kenya Day in Nairobi under the theme “Innovate now, ignite the future.”
The event brought together senior technology leaders and decision-makers from government, finance, e-commerce, media, and the broader ICT sector.
Huawei Cloud has played a pivotal role in supporting African nations as they adapt to the digital era, leveraging its global experience and advanced technologies to deliver real-world solutions to the Kenyan market, unlock new business value, and empower innovation.
Speaking at the opening of the event, Frank Shi, Managing Director of Huawei, Kenya, said: “The best time to develop Cloud and AI is now. Huawei Cloud is proud to have been in Kenya for 27 years, and we are here to build a better Kenya and a smarter, more connected future together. We want to become a one-stop shop for software development, offering the tools, platforms, and expertise needed to power Kenya’s digital economy.”
Shi also highlighted Huawei Cloud’s long-term strategy of transitioning from cloud-native to AI-native architecture, aligning with the global trend of enterprises increasingly adopting “cloud for AI” and “AI for cloud” models.
Huawei Cloud is also strengthening partnerships with local enterprises, developers, and public institutions to accelerate innovation across all sectors in Kenya.
Throughout the event, keynote speeches and live demonstrations offered practical insights into Huawei Cloud’s solutions.
Timothy Oriedo, Founder and CEO of Predictive Analytics Lab, discussed how Big Data, DevOps, and AI are driving Africa’s intelligent transformation, drawing from Kenyan use cases in fintech, agriculture, and logistics. He underscored a clear roadmap for enterprises to turn data into actionable insights and measurable outcomes.
Representing Huawei Cloud’s global products team, Rex Xiao, Vice President of the PaaS Product Department, introduced CodeArts, an all-in-one DevOps platform built on Huawei’s two decades of R&D expertise. Ishaq Kassam, Chief Commercial Officer of FinSense Africa, emphasized the importance of DevSecOps in building digital-first strategies, noting how practices such as root cause analysis, one-click deployment, faster turnaround times, and security by design are critical for innovation, agility, and operational excellence. Huawei Cloud, in collaboration with FinSense, is helping Kenyan businesses achieve these outcomes.
Anthony Miano, Senior Solution Architect at Huawei Cloud, shared success stories including a case study from the Philippines, where a leading internet company achieved a tenfold increase in R&D efficiency by adopting CodeArts and eliminating fragmentation caused by multiple disconnected tools.
David Sanchez Plaza, Chief Solution Architect for Data Analytics at Huawei Cloud, introduced the Lakehouse Architecture, which combines the scalability of data lakes with the reliability of data warehouses. Kevin Kipruto, Senior Solution Architect at Huawei Cloud, demonstrated a live web-based e-commerce application to showcase how Huawei Cloud’s PaaS and DevSecOps services can accelerate software delivery without compromising performance or security.
Huawei Cloud reaffirmed its commitment to helping Kenyan enterprises innovate faster, reduce costs, and unlock new opportunities by integrating cloud computing, big data, AI, and DevOps technologies.
Concluding the event, Frank Shi said “We are not just providing technology. We are building ecosystems, nurturing talent, and co-creating solutions. Together with our partners, we will continue to build a smarter, more inclusive, and more intelligent future for Kenya and Africa.”
