Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has addressed growing speculation about a possible fallout with his deputy, McDonald Mariga, whose absence from several recent FKF events has raised eyebrows.

In an interview with Citizen TV, Hussein dismissed claims of a rift, maintaining that relations within the federation remain cordial. He noted that the FKF constitution clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of each official.

Hussein emphasized that he has no personal issues with Mariga, adding that the vice president is best placed to speak for himself.

โ€œI think I have a good relation so far. Heโ€™s got his responsibilities as a deputy, my responsibilities as president, and every other member of NEC. As far as Iโ€™m concerned, I donโ€™t have particular issues. Of course, the other person to respond on such a matter will be the vice president. I cannot speak for both of usโ€”he can speak for himself,โ€ Hussein stated.

The FKF president also outlined the policies his administration introduced from the start, stressing that he has maintained a strict policy of non-interference in team selection.

He explained that the technical bench was granted full independence, a qualified team was appointed, and every necessary resource was provided to promote professionalism.

โ€œThe policies we put in place right at the beginning, I was very categorical that our administration will not, first of all, interfere with the selection of players. I stood my ground on this and we ensured that everybody within the administration was aware of this policy. Secondly, of course, we gave the technical bench complete freedom and then we also appointed a competent team and gave them all the support that they required,โ€ he said.
