The newly refurbished Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, which can accommodate 68,700 spectators, is situated approximately 9 kilometres from the Central Business District in Rabat, the administrative capital from December 21 this year to January 18, 2026,andย will host sevenย matches of the 35th African Cup of Nations finals.
The renovations, which cost USD 75 million and were carried out by Moroccan companies Orange Atelier and Populous, started in 2023 and were finished within two years.
The stadium is the second largest in Morocco after Tangierโs Ibn Batouta.
Initially built in 1980 and finished in 1983, it underwent upgrades that raised its capacity from 21,000 to more than 68,000 seats.
There are three types of first-class accommodations available at the stadium: 110 boxes, five hospitality lounges with around 5,400 seats, and special spaces for people with disabilities.
Its facadated structure, which combined modern design features with traditional Moroccan aesthetics, was inspired by palm leaves.
The complex also features an Olympic-sized swimming pool, football training fields, an indoor multi purpose sports hall, and a multi storey underground parking garage with a capacity of 5,200 vehicles.
In order to promote environmental sustainability, the facility integrates water recycling technologies and solar energy systems.
The stadium will host seven games, including all of the Group A matches between host Morocco and Comoros, Mali, and Zambia; one round of 16 match; one quarterfinal; one semifinal; and theย final.
Following renovations, the arena was formally inaugurated and hosted the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on September 6th, where Morocco defeated Niger 5-0 to earn the spot as the first African country to qualify for the World Cup.
