Former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi

Former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has firmly distanced himself from President William Ruto, declaring that he will never engage in talks or agreements with him.

Muturi, who was the former Kenya’s Attorney General, said his fallout with the President stemmed from Ruto’s alleged failure to address the country’s rising cases of abductions and extrajudicial killings.

“There will never come a day when I will hold a conversation or enter into any agreement with President William Ruto. The moment he failed to act on the grave issue of abductions and extrajudicial killings, that was the point of departure between us. I want my legacy to be that of a leader who stood firmly for justice,” Muturi stated.

He also accused Ruto of shifting public attention by attacking Members of Parliament.

“When the President says MPs are corrupt, he wants Kenyans to forget the real issues they were questioning him about,” he said.

Defends Multi-Party Democracy

Muturi further dismissed calls for Mt. Kenya leaders to rally behind a single political party, insisting that such a move would undermine the Constitution.

“Our Constitution is clear—Kenya is a multi-party democratic State, and every citizen has the right to belong to a political party of their choice. The idea that people from Mt. Kenya should only rally behind one party is a firm NO,” he declared.

His remarks are expected to fuel the ongoing political debate in the region, where calls for unity behind a single party have clashed with arguments for diversity of representation.
