It reminds governments of their duty to provide timely, accurate data, and empowers citizens to make informed decisions, demand accountability, and participate in governance.

This year’s theme emphasises strengthening access to information in the digital age, where technology offers opportunities but also raises concerns about misinformation and data privacy. Access to information is a fundamental human right.
