Jadon Sancho is close to sealing a deal to a Serie A club but it is not Juventus or Napoli that had been credited with an interest in him.

AS Roma have submitted an official bid to Manchester United for winger Jadon Sancho, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The deal is structured as an initial loan, which could easily become permanent through a €23 million clause. Sancho has reportedly agreed to the move to the Stadio Olimpico.

“Jadon Sancho has opened doors to AS Roma move and the proposal is worth £20m as total package. Loan deal with obligation to buy proposal at easy conditions to activate the permanent deal. Sancho doesn’t want to go to Turkey at this stage despite reports,” Romano posted on X.

Gianluca Di Marzio also confirmed the bid, adding that the funds for this transfer could come from the potential sale of midfielder Manu Kone to Inter Milan.

Furthermore, Kone’s departure could also finance the arrival of another winger for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side. Roma are in talks with Aston Villa for Leon Bailey. It’s believed Roma’s offer for Bailey follows the same formula as the Sancho bid, with a similar price tag.

According to Fabrice Hawkins, the deal between the two Italian clubs for Kone could be finalised for less than €50 million.
