Kenya Power has notified its customers of a planned maintenance exercise that will lead to a blackout for specified hours in various areas in Nairobi and other counties on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
In a notice dated Saturday, September 13, 2025, the utility firm informed customers in the affected areas to prepare for the expected inconveniences.
JKIA Airport
According to the notice, areas around the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) will be affected by the planned maintenance exercise from 9am to 5pm.
The power transmission firm indicated that the over eight-hour outage will primarily affect companies operating around JKIA.
Mitchell Cotts Group, Swissport Kenya, Transglobal Cargo Centre, Freight Complex, Kenya Bureau of Standards JKIA, Forodha House JKIA, Air Connections LTD, DHL Global Forwarding, KAA, Four Point Hotel, Global Freight Logistics, Crowne Plaza Nairobi, Kunhne+ Nagel Ltd, Air Flo, LSG Sky Chefs, KCAA, NAS, Acceler, Siginon Freight Holdings, Vegro, DB Schenker, AFA-HCD, Barabara Plaza KENHA Headquarters and adjacent customers will be affected by the planned maintenance.
Parts of Parklands
Residents living in some parts of Parklands will spend close to eight hours without power on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The Kenya Power notice anticipates that maintenance will begin around the leafy estate at 9:00 am and continue until 5pm.

Machakos County
Besides areas in Nairobi, some specific sections in Machakos County will also be affected by the planned maintenance.
Like JKIA, the maintenance around Machakos County will mostly affect malls, estates and businesses along Mombasa Road from 9:00 am to 5pm.
They include Doshi, Nation Printers, Scania, Gateway Mall, Hilton Garden, Mastermind, Eens Business Park, Quiver and adjacent customers.
In Kiambu
Areas around Kilimambogo Millers, Behind TIBS, White Sisters, Ukombozi Center, Kibute Parts of Ngoingwa Classic, Family Gardens, PCEA, Kisiwa, Mpesa Foundation, Karibaribi, Kawira, Makwa Boys, Makwa Dispensary, Makwa Market, Magumu, Gakui Shopping Center, Gachororo Hospital, St. Paul Catholic Church, Gachororo Secondary School, Mungetho Market, High Point, Gachororo Market, Ndarugu Hotel, Gwa Kigwe, Centurion Hotel, Premier Foods, East African Health and adjacent customers are expected to be without power from 9am to 5pm.
Western Region
According to the notice from the utility firm, parts of Kisumu Town will experience an interruption from 8am to 5pm. The specific areas include Okore Estate, Obunga, Migosi, Lolwe, Uzima University, Kanyamedha and adjacent customers.
In Miwani, Keda, Miwani Mkt, Karebe, Chemase, Kigori Mkt Maboyi and Chebsweta are expected to experience the outage from 9am to 5pm.
Vihiga
Areas around Waluba, Mahanga and Ebwali will be hit by the outage from 9am to 5pm.
โWaluka, Stage Matope, Ebwali, Esongolo, Mwitokho, Fisheries, Mahanga, Itabalia, Kisienya and adjacent customers,โ Kenya Power noted.
In coast region, several areas in Kilifi will also experience the outage.
