A joint funeral mass is currently ongoing at the Naki Primary School in Nyakach for 22 of the 26 victims of Kisumu-Kakamega highway bus crash.

The victims perished on August 8 after a bus they were travelling in from a funeral inย Nyahera crashed at the Coptic roundabout, just outside Kisumu city.

Grief-stricken familiesย collected the bodies on Friday from theย Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue on Friday.

Many were relatives and friends.

The bodies were taken to their respective homes for night vigils, before being brought together again at Naki Primary School on Saturday morning for the joint funeral service.

Families will thereafter carry their loved ones to their final resting places on a day that will mark one of the heaviest moments in Nyakachโ€™s history.

The funeral service is being attended by political figures inclduing ODM leader Raila Odinga, Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o and a host of MPs.
